Nithiin’s Best Performance Ever In Maestro: Gandhi

Nithiin, Nabha Natesh and Tamannaah Bhatia starrer black comedy crime thriller Maestro is all set to stream on Disney+ Hotstar OTT from September 17th. The film’s director Merlapaka Gandhi interacted with scribes.

“I watched ‘Andhadhun’ in a village near Araku. I loved the thrilling moments in the movie. I thought it would be a right choice to remake the movie. Nithiin and Sudhakar Reddy approached me with the idea of remaking this film. We have made some changes to the climax and also to the love story, from original version of the movie.

Basically, making a remake is very difficult. If made frame to frame remake, people call it as a copy paste job. If made any changes, they criticize saying the soul is missing. We shot few scenes as it is as one shouldn’t miss the feel.

Nithiin did well as the blind person in the film. In first schedule, we shot climax portions in Dubai due to Covid. Nithiin immersed himself in the character as a blind man from the first shot itself. This gave us the confidence to make the movie. We planned to go with a young actress in the role of Tabu and it’s my proposal to cast Tamannaah for the same. I was shocked to see Tamannaah’s acting. Senior actor Naresh and Nabha Natesh too performed well.

Mahathi Swara Sagar provided wonderful music. Maestro means Master of Music. We thought a lot about the title, but finally locked Maestro. There are comparisons when making remakes. So I will not do any more remakes. Nithiin was very happy with the output of this movie. I wish to do a straight movie with Nithiin in future.

‘Maestro’ was shot in just 42 days. I will reveal about my next project soon.
