What’s in the offing: More Than a ‘Love Story’

Shekhar Kammula carved a niche for himself in the Telugu film industry with his own style of filmmaking. The director is known for writing breezy romantic dramas with strong female leads and realistic story setups. His new outing is Love Story.

This Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi-starrer romantic drama is all set for a grand release on September 24. It was supposed to hit the screens long back but has been getting postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the lockdowns.

The trailer of Love Story was unveiled the other day. We can see Shekhar’s trademark filmmaking style in this movie as well. There is an initial cat-and-mouse relationship between the lead pair and it further develops into a strong emotional bond.

Shekhar is also dealing with a few elements that he hasn’t touched before in his career. Going by trailer, it looks like the movie deals with honour killings. Shekhar never dealt with such a serious issue and we have to see how he showcased it in this movie.

He also showed lead actors having an immense passion for dance. This is probably the only Shekhar’s film with a lot of dance sequences in it.

There is a dialogue in the trailer where Sai Pallavi says that she has done B. Tech and she will not pursue dance as a profession. Shekhar is the one who popularized B.Tech in Telugu states with his 2007 film Happy Days. Is he now playing a satire on the course with this movie? We have to wait until the release to know the answer.
