No Intention of Going Court Against AP Gov: RRR Producer

The government of Andhra Pradesh’s decision of slashing the ticket prices is adversely affecting the Telugu film industry. We have seen films like Love Story and Most Eligible Bachelor, which have done extremely well in Telangana, witnessing losses in a few areas of Andhra Pradesh.

If the trend continues, upcoming big releases will be severely affected and struggle to cross the breakeven mark. It is reported that the rights of RRR were sold at Rs. 100 crores in Andhra Pradesh. Reaching the breakeven mark with existing low prices will be an impossible task. The prices need to be hiked in order to collect well at the box office.

For the last few days, it is being reported that the makers of RRR are planning to approach the court against the AP government, regarding the ticket prices. However, the makers condemned the news as a mere rumour and stated that they will hold talks with the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, and try to solve the issue.

“It is true that the slashing of ticket prices will affect our film immensely. But we at #RRRMovie have no intention of going to court. We are trying to approach the honourable Andhra Pradesh CM garu and explain our situation for an amicable solution,” tweeted RRR’s production house DVV Entertainment this morning.

Earlier, various industry big wigs have tried talking to the AP government but there was no use. It has to be seen if the RRR team succeeds in solving the issue.

Directed by SS Rajamouli, RRR features Jr. NTR and Ram Charan in the lead roles. It is slated for a worldwide release on January 7, 2022.
