Actor Siddharth Booked By Hyderabad Police

After several backlashes from netizens, fans, and co-stars, actor Siddharth issued a public apology to Badminton champion Saina Nehwal for his controversial tweet. And everything’s been cooling off as Saina too forgave the actor hoping no such sexist remarks repeat in the future. But despite things settling, the cybercrime wing of Hyderabad Police has registered a case against Siddharth after a woman filed a complaint.

The complainant booked the actor over his remarks on Indian shuttler and a senior police official informed that based on the complaint a case has been registered against the actor under IPC Section 509 (word, gesture, or act intended to insult the modesty of women) and under other relevant sections of the Information Technology Act.

After Olympic Bronze medal winner Saina Nehwal shared her opinion on the recent security breach in Punjab when Prime Minister Narendra Modi was trapped on a flyover for several minutes as protestors blocked the road, Siddharth responded to her with a tweet “Subtle cock champion of the world… Thank God we have protectors of India. Shame on you #Rihanna.”

Soon after, even the National Commission for Women even asked Twitter to ‘block’ the actor’s account. On Tuesday, Siddharth issued a public apology to Saina by saying that he is apologizing for his ‘rude joke’. Saina said that she is happy Siddharth has apologized. Saina stated, “He shouldn’t target a woman like that but it’s okay, I am not bothered about it, I am happy in my space and god bless him,” the shuttler said on the sidelines of ongoing India open in Delhi.
