Alia Bhatt’s Gangubai Kathiawadi was released in the theatres on February 25 and gave a great start to Bollywood this year. The film did exceptionally well when it first opened in the theatres. Gangubai did impressive not just in India, but in Australia as well. The film has managed to surpass the collections of Prem Ratan Dhan Payo and Raees in foreign countries. In fact, it is the first big film to release in cinemas after the third wave and has crossed the Rs. 100 crore mark.

Meanwhile, Vivek Agnihotri’s The Kashmir Files released on March 11 has fast become the audience’s favourite in theatres surpassing the other releases including Radhe Shyam and Batman. The film was released on limited screens on Day 1, however, the overwhelming response and positive reviews led to an increase in screen count.
