Mohanlal’s Film Banned In Gulf Countries?

Complete actor Mohanlal and director Vysakh delivered an industry hit in Malayalam with the 2016 film Pulimurugan. After a gap of six years, they have reunited once again for the new film Monster, which is gearing up for release this Friday. The film also features Manchu Lakshmi in a crucial role.

Just a few days ahead of its release, Monster landed in a trouble. If the latest buzz is anything to go by, the film may not release in the GCC countries UAE, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Qatar and Kuwait.

GCC countries are a big market for the Malayalam film industry due to the predominant population of Malayalis in the region.

Apparently, Monster is banned in the GCC countries due to some scenes which feature LGBTQ content. This came in as a shocker to the team as well as Mohanlal fans. We hear that the team applied for re-censoring. Even if it gets a nod, it may not get released this week for sure, said the sources.

The advance bookings have been cancelled as well. An official announcement regarding the release in GCC countries is expected to be made soon.
