Every time, Film industries across the nation see a new trend. In recent times we have seen trends like south films clicking big time in Bollywood, top Bollywood heroines trying to get into South industries, and Indian films making waves internationally. But, locally, another yet interesting trend is growing big time now.
The latest trend is that many directors are turning into heroes and then they are not going back to direct any soon. Earlier, those who have come to the industry to become directors, including the likes of Raviteja, Nani, Raj Tarun, and Vishwaksen have got launched as heroes.
But now, directors who have delivered hit films are turning into heroes after the release of that film. Basi Joseph in Malayalam who has delivered a stunner like Minnal Murali has become a hero and has done two films as a hero, and both are good hits at the box office along with the latest sensation Jaya Jaya Jaya Jaya Hey. Tamil director Pradeep Ranganathan who made a successful debut with Comali, has now scored a smashing hit as director and hero with Love Today.
And in Telugu, we have the likes of Adivi Sesh, Siddhu Jonnalagadda and Vishwaksen who are writing, directing and acting as heroes in the same movie. Though these Telugu heroes are bringing one newcomer as a director, those directors are just the front face but these folks are doing all the things. With directors turning heroes, and heroes turning to direction, it looks like our folks are reiterating that classic Hollywood era where heroes and directors are the same guys.
