Ravi Teja’s Character Adds More Strength: Chiranjeevi

It’s delighted for fans to see vintage Megastar Chiranjeevi in the promos of his next outing Waltair Veerayya which will is due for release in a couple of days. Chiranjeevi interacted with the media and started his conversation by congratulating team RRR for winning Golden Globe Award for Naatu Naatu song.

Megastar says fans wish to see him in mass characters and he too loves doing commercial entertainers. “I want to do all kinds of roles. I earlier did different films like Subhalekha, Swayam Krushi, Mantri Gari Viyyankudu, Apadbandhavudu etc. But later in this industry that is financially and commercially linked, keeping in mind the welfare of the producers and distributors, I started giving first priority to the movies that the audience and fans want from me, rather than my personal interests.

In Comeback too, I played a freedom fighter in Sye Raa, a powerful character in GodFather that didn’t have songs and a heroine. Both were hits. But I did Waltair Veeraya with an effort to give one hundred percent what the audience wanted from me. It will surely entertain the audience. Once again there will be a chance to remember vintage Chiranjeevi. The movie will give an opportunity to recollect films like Mutha Mestri, Gharana Mogudu and Rowdy Alludu. I enjoyed shooting for the movie. The main reason for this is director Bobby. He worked very hard to see me in a vintage entertaining character.”

Chiranjeevi affirms he will give freedom to young directors, fight masters, and choreographers. “I never look at the monitor. When I am shooting, I don’t move out of my place, until the director says ‘OK’. I always wait for them. I give that comfort to the directors that they feel like dealing with a new actor.”

He says the encouragement and appreciation of the audience are the driving force for him. “The support shown by the audience drives me forward.”

Chiranjeevi’s all praises for Ravi Teja. “I didn’t see much difference in Ravi Teja. He played my friend in Aaj Ka Goonda Raaj. Then he played my brother in Annayya. He became a star now. But he is the same person. He didn’t even change his food habits. Ravi Teja’s character in Waltair Veerayya adds strength to the story. There is a lot of emotion in his character. He did complete justice to the role.”

About producers of Mythri Movie Makers, Chiranjeevi says, “We rarely come across such producers. They are not money-centric. They do movies with a passion. I suggest them be very cautious on budgets. I also told Bobby not to exceed the budget. Bobby also worked accordingly. Directors need to look after the well-being of producers. We spent 40 lakhs per day shooting an action episode in Maredumilli. We did proper planning so that there won’t be any wastage.”

Chiru says he advised that there’s at least one day gap between the release of the two movies. “If there’s a gap between the releases, then it won’t affect the openings of both movies.”

Megastar affirms Bobby wins more marks as a director than a fan. “I strongly believe in content. Bobby also believes in content. That’s why it worked out well for both of us. Technology has been used as per the requirement and not more than that.”

The trailer showed Ravi Teja saying Chiranjeevi’s dialogue and vice versa. “It’s the idea of the director as a fanboy. We both liked the idea. It was a fanboy moment for Ravi Teja who likes me saying my dialogue. Also, it was fun to utter Ravi Teja’s dialogue since he is like my younger brother.”

Chiranjeevi heaped praises on music director Devi Sri Prasad for giving such a chartbuster album and Shruti Haasan for her performance and hard work.

The megastar thanked both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh governments for allowing to increase the ticket price by Rs 25.
