BO: Veerayya Steady, Veera Simha Slower

Sankranti festival witnessed the clash of Nandamuri Balakrishna’s Veera Simha Reddy and Chiranjeevi’s Waltair Veerayya. Veera Simha Reddy registered career-best openings of Balakrishna and created Day 1 records all over. But it didn’t last long. The tough competition from Waltair Veerayya which released a day later has certainly impacted. Theatres sharing has dented into the collections of Veera Simha Reddy, opine trade analysts.

Nizam is usually touted as the deciding market in tracking the Box office numbers. In Nizam, Balakrishna’s Veera Simha Reddy earned Rs 10.2 Crore share in 3 days. Whereas Chiranjeevi’s Waltair Veerayya earned Rs 11.6 Crore Share in 2 days.

Be it Uttarandhra, West Godavari, Krishna, Guntur or Ceded, Waltair Veerayya is showing its clear dominance. In the Telugu states, Waltair Veerayya has got an edge. Both the films have garnered mixed talk and mixed reviews. Yet the films did well at the Box Office surpassing the reviews.

In overseas as well, Waltair Veerayya is the winner. In the USA, it made about 1.73 million USD in the first weekend. Balakrishna’s Veera Simha Reddy earned about 1 million USD in the first weekend.

Meanwhile, Vijay’s Vaarasudu turned out to be a huge disaster in Telugu. The film bagged poor reviews for its weak content, barring family emotion. The film’s opening was also pretty weak. Ajith’s Thegimpu too bit the dust in Telugu.

Santosh Sobhan’s Kalyanam Kamaneeyam got a limited release. The talk of routine content seems to be a big obstacle for the film to overcome. With this, Waltair Veerayya and Veera Simha Reddy became the only options for audiences for this festive season.
