Trend: Directors Asking For A Share!

Some directors just come out of the blue and set a huge trend, and that’s what “Arjun Reddy” fame Sandeep Reddy Vanga has done. He has not only made that film a cult narrative but also showed the world how talented creative filmmakers could become really part of the film business. And now, everyone is asking for it.

After producing “Arjun Reddy” himself, director Sandeep Vanga sold the whole film to a big Telugu distributor and made only a couple of crores profit though the film made it huge at the box office. But then, he retained the story rights and that led him to team up with T-Series for the movie’s remake.

Since then, the director is demanding only a share in the project’s profits rather than working for remuneration. In all of his upcoming films, Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal, Prabhas’ Spirit and Allu Arjun’s movie as well, the director is the co-producer through his Bhadrakali Films.

We are hearing that many young directors who made it big recently and some star directors are asking their producers to offer a share in the movie and make them co-producer. While heroes like Mahesh Babu and Allu Arjun are taking such a share in recent times, directors asking for it is a new thing. Will Tollywood apply that Sandeep Reddy formula and T-Series kind of equation to our very own directors? We have to see.
