Tillu Square: Producer Opts For A Sandwich Date?

Siddhu Jonnalagadda is one of the popular actors in Tollywood right now. The young hero’s struggle for survival in Telugu came to an end with the film DJ Tillu. The big success of the film landed the actor into a comfortable zone. Now, cashing the film’s craze, the hero is coming up with a sequel. Titled Tillu Square, the film’s shoot is currently in progress. However, the film’s release date creates a discussion in the film’s circles.

Suryadevara Naga Vamsi is bankrolling the film under the Sithara Entertainments banner. The producer blocked August 11th as the film’s release date. There are comments that it’s a ‘sandwich release date’.

Initially, the date was parked for SSMB28, but after it was concluded that the Mahesh Babu starrer would be postponed to Sankranthi next year, the producer deliberately wanted to use the slot for Tillu Square. However, it is difficult for Tillu Square to dominate at the box office.

Since it is Independence day weekend, multiple films are lined up for a grand release. On one side, Megastar Chiranjeevi is planning to bring Bholaa Shankar on that day, and on the other side, Superstar Rajinikanth is also planning to bring Jailer on the same date. In between, we may also expect pan-India projects like Animal and Gadar 2: The Katha Continues. So, it is tough for Siddhu to survive this big competition and the movie might get sandwiched between the big releases.

Meanwhile, if the team wants to postpone the film to the Dusshera season, it will be another big hurdle for the team. There will be a big rush of releases at the box office for Dusshera, and Siddhu will have to struggle more to make his presence felt. It’s again a situation of clashing with bigwigs.

Sithara Entertainments already did a mistake by bringing content-oriented Swathi Muthyam to theatres during the Dusshera season. Despite the film’s content being praised, it failed to make good money. Literally, the movie got sandwiched between the then Dusshera releases.

So, we have to see what will happen in the case of Tillu square!
