Chay Rejected The Title Shiva: Venkat Prabhu

Naga Chaitanya and Venkat Prabhu’s action thriller Custody made on a huge scale under Srinivasaa Silver Screen is slated for release on May 12th. A day before releasing the trailer, the team interacted with the media.

Venkat Prabhu said, “Custody is the highest-budgeted film in my career so far. The Tamil audience knows me since I’ve been there for 15 years. This is my 1st Telugu movie. There won’t be much expectation here for a Tamil director. That’s the best thing for me actually. Custody is an intense film. This has a realistic tone to it. We don’t want to go above larger than life kind of feel to it. The idea is that the hero has to make sure the villain shouldn’t die. The hero has no choice but to protect the villain from not dying. It’s a very emotion-based film with a lot of action. I’ve to make them look a little darker. In the whole film, they had only 2 costumes. The story happens in 2 days.

Naga Chaitanya is the only hero I narrated the story. Thankfully he accepted it. The shoot happened in 100 days. It’s a proper bilingual. We shot in both languages. The movie is more on screenplay based. There are surprising and exciting, as well as edge-of-the-seat moments in the movie. You’ll love Shiva. Shiva was the first title for the movie. However, Chay rejected saying Shiva was a cult movie and he won’t dare.”

Naga Chaitanya said, “The teaser got a tremendous response from the Telugu and the Tamil audience. The trailer is releasing on May 5th. A few media friends watched and gave a positive response. I can’t wait for the audience to watch. I played a constable who goes any extent when a gets a simple power called truth. We haven’t seen in recent times, a story with such a character. When I asked why me when he knows several stars in Tamil. He said he watched Love Story and liked my performance. He felt I would fit in the role.

Venkat Prabhu has a typical trademark style of screenplay writing. It will be fresh for the Telugu audience. My confidence grew after watching the movie on the editing table. It’s been a lovely experience of working with senior actors like Arvind Swami, Sarathkumar and Priyamani. There are many layers in the movie. It’s always a dream working with Krithi.”
