I Get Sandwiched Between 3 Characters: Naga Chaitanya

Naga Chaitanya is hoping to make his mark in the Tamil with his upcoming bilingual Custody with Venkat Prabhu. The movie is up for release tomorrow. Meanwhile, Chay interacted with the media today.

Naga Chaitanya met few police constables, as to prepare himself for the character he played in Custody. “It was inspiring when I heard stories from police constables. I enjoyed doing the role. Gharshana is my favorite among Telugu cop stories, other than dad’s Shivamani.”

His character in the movie is not a typical action hero type. “It’s an underdog character. I really enjoyed the way Venkat Prabhu put together my character arc. You will see the growth in character in the second half. Venkat’s screenplay style is very special.”

Chay expressed his happiness of working with Arvind Swami. “What an actor he is. I learned a lot from him. He implements his own style to do his roles. He brings his own perspective.”

He affirms the movie will have all the elements. “The movie will have a number of layers. It has family emotions, other than intense and action aspects.”

The actor requests not to compare the movie with his father Nagarjuna’s cult classic Shiva. “Custody will always remain to be a good movie in my career. But please I don’t compare it with Shiva.”

The story revolves around four characters. “I get sandwiched between three characters- Sharath Kumar, Arvind Swami and Priyamani. I lost weight for the character as not to look like a typical hero. The way he fights these characters is a big attraction.”

Chay says producer Sreenivas is like a family member and friend. “He got connected to the story and made it passionately. I always love working with him.”

He affirms to do part two of the movie if Custody works well at the box office.
