Ustaad Bhagat Singh: A Controversial Storm on the Horizon?

Powerstar Pawan Kalyan is no stranger to controversies; his latest outing, BRO, is a testament to that. Andhra Pradesh Minister Ambati Rambabu, in particular, has expressed his displeasure with the alleged portrayal of a character resembling him, fueling the ongoing controversy. However, the controversy surrounding BRO might be a mere prelude to the storm that awaits Pawan Kalyan’s next venture – Ustaad Bhagat Singh.

Ustaad Bhagat Singh, a remake of the Tamil hit Theri, is rumored to be a film filled with sharp, sarcastic lines, indirect comments, and pointed criticisms aimed at the ruling party in Andhra Pradesh. The film is directed by Harish Shankar, who has earned a reputation for his skill in crafting impactful oneliners.

Given the current sensitive political climate in the state, where emotions run high and political affiliations are deeply entrenched, the content of Ustaad Bhagat Singh has the potential to create further unrest. Moreover, Pawan Kalyan plays a cop in the film, and it is easy for him (his character) to take potshots directly at the government.

With the Janasena party trying to woo the public and turn them into potential voters, it is important for them to have a strong medium to reach out to a larger section of the audience, and the story of Ustaad Bhagat Singh also allows Pawan to do the same.

Pawan Kalyan and Harish Shankar hold considerable influence over the masses, and they could easily make a politically charged film. The reports say that the makers plan to bring the film to theatres by Sankranthi 2024, before the general elections in AP.
