‘Mega’ daughter at the receiving end for bland styling of Chiru

The failure of Megastar Chiranjeevi’s latest outing ‘Bholaa Shankar’ has brought so many shortcomings to the fore for discussion among critics and audiences. While there has been a collective clamour from Mega fans against Chiru’s obsession with remakes, one more aspect that received a lot of criticism from all quarters is his bland styling and outdated costumes in most of the scenes and songs.

It is a known fact that Chiru’s elder daughter Sushmita Konidela has been the go-to costume designer for all his recent films. Irrespective of the results of his previous films, critics have panned Sushmitha’s insipid work. Except for Ram Charan’s Rangasthalam, Sushmitha’s styling and costumes didn’t get much credit in any of her films.

While Chiru’s impressive performance in Khaidi No 150, SyeRaa and Waltair Veerayya shielded Sushmita’s mediocre work, the disappointing result of Acharya and Bholaa Shankar drew a lot of criticism on her. Both these films presented Chiru in outmoded get-ups which turned out to be a big liability. His outdated appearance in Bholaa Shankar, in particular, triggered a lot of discussion on his decision to continue Sushmita despite her lackluster efforts.

Chiru fans are now demanding him to immediately change her for upcoming films and rope in a renowned stylist and costume designer.

Interestingly, Chiru’s next film will be produced by Sushmitha’s home banner. So, it remains to be seen if she opts out after the negative feedback or continues to work on his costumes.
