Opinion: This Is The Problem With ‘Over Hype’

Apparently, the super success of “Vikram” at the box office made director Lokesh Kanagaraj a popular name across the tinsel towns. Now that he’s coming up with a film with Vijay after “Master”, there are lots of hopes for LEO. And many are wondering why would some fans troll the trailer on social media and some fans created a ruckus inside theatres. Well, there is a thing to be understood here now.

First of all, if we look at SS Rajamouli and the way he promotes films, the director simply holds a press meeting during the poster launch and reveals the story of the film. Whether it is Eega, Baahubali or the upcoming Mahesh Babu’s movie, we know the story well in advance. And that sets the bar of expectations and he meets them with his screenplay.

Now that Lokesh Kanagaraj never spoke about the film’s story or any line about it, rather than saying that Vijay’s violent avatar will thrill everyone. Listening to that, the audience expected that Vijay would be seen in a Rolex Surya (Vikram movie ending) like a role.

Now that the trailer of LEO showcases that Vijay is a regular police who gets hunted by the bad men and then turns against them for revenge, which happens to be a very routine and regular thing that was seen in many movies. As the director got overhyped in the market and people expected something else, surely they got disappointed after looking at the trailer. That’s the problem with over-hype anyway.
