B-C Centres Talk: Hat-Trick Balayya!

Tollywood senior actor Nandamuri Balakrishna’s latest offering Bhagavanth Kesari, directed by Anil Ravipudi, is performing on par with trade expectations at the ticket windows despite heavy competition from other biggies and securing mixed reports. After taking a decent opening last Thursday, the film dominated the Telugu box office during the first weekend and on festival days to emerge as a clear winner among all Dussehra releases. Huge rush of family audiences seen at B, C centres.

By the end of six days, Bhagavanth Kesari grossed over 90+ crores and completed a hat-trick of films for Balakrishna in the elite club after Akhanda and Veera Simha Reddy. It collected a theatrical share of 50 Crores. The emotional action fare struck a chord with the US audiences as well and it notched up $1 million by Monday itself. Balakrishna is now the only seasoned actor in Tollywood with three consecutive films in the prestigious million-dollar club.

Balakrishna’s brave decision to accept a story-driven subject with thought-provoking episodes is winning plaudits from all quarters. Sree Leela got a meaty character and delivered a powerful performance. Anil Ravipudi deftly handled the script and ensured that there is an adequate dose of action and drama to entertain the masses while delivering a strong message.

As Bhagavanth Kesari secured better word of mouth among all releases last week, trade pundits are expecting the film to sustain in the long run and put all its buyers in a safe zone.
