Ranveer Singh Breaks Silence On Kantara Controversy

Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh, who is awaiting the release of his upcoming film Dhurandhar, has finally succumbed to the ongoing backlash over his imitation of Rishab Shetty’s performance in Kantara Chapter 1 and tendered unconditional apology for his antics during the closing ceremony of International Film Festival of India at Goa last week.

Ranveer took to Instagram earlier today and wrote ” My intention was to highlight Rishabh’s incredible performance in the film. Actor to actor, I know how much it would take to perform that particular scene in the way that he did, for which he has my utmost admiration.” He further added  “I have always deeply respected every culture, tradition and belief in our country. If I’ve hurt anyone’s sentiments, I sincerely apologise.”

While speaking on stage, Ranveer said he loved Rishab’s stupendous performance in Kantara Chapter 1 and later enacted the actor’s signature chant from the period drama. He also described the female deity as a ghost much to the shock of audience and his comments triggered huge outrage. From the past few days, there have been demands for a public apology by Ranveer Singh from Kannada people. They even threatened to ban Dhurandhar in Karnataka.

Recently, a complaint was filed on Ranveer Singh for hurting the religious sentiments of Hindu devotees. As the issue snowballed into a huge controversy, Ranveer Singh finally broke silence and decided to end it with his apology.
