The Fire Is Missing for Avatar 3?

When Avatar released in 2009, it shook the worldwide box office like never before. It broke almost every record and stayed unbeatable for years. Because of that massive success, director James Cameron planned four more films in the franchise. But the first sequel Avatar The Way of Water did not meet expectations. It earned well because of the pre-release hype, but the content disappointed many viewers.

The impact of that disappointment is clearly visible now. Avatar 3 Fire and Ash is getting ready for release, yet there is hardly any excitement. Compared to the buzz for Avatar and Avatar 2, the response for the third part feels very low. Even though the movie is set for a worldwide December release, the hype is almost silent.

In India too, December 19 has been left free for Avatar 3. No major Telugu releases have been planned for that date. Instead, four films are arriving this weekend and the Christmas weekend also looks crowded. Akhanda 2 is still waiting for a confirmed date.

Some film lovers feel that instead of fighting for space during the busy weekends, a couple of Telugu movies could have released on December 19. There is no strong fear factor with Avatar 3 because the buzz is not huge. Only if the talk turns out extremely positive, it may push other films. Especially in Telugu states, it is doubtful whether Avatar 3 can create the same impact as the earlier parts.

So releasing one or two films alongside Avatar 3 might not have been a problem at all.
