Nandamuri Balakrishna is the only senior actor of Tollywood to deliver consecutive hits after COVID pandemic. He scored back-to-back blockbusters with Akhanda, Veera Simha Reddy, Bhagavanth Kesari and Daaku Maharaj. Continuing the rich vein of form, his latest film Akhanda 2 also performing well at the box office despite mixed reports.
Despite getting postponed in the last minute due to financial obligations and legal entangles, Akhanda 2 arrived in style last Friday and registered solid revenues in the first weekend with 61 Crores net in India alone in the first three days. Even though the film garnered average word of mouth and underwhelming reviews, the collections are decent on the first Monday and marches towards the 100 Crore mark.
The Boyapati Srinu directional has already collected 50 Crores share in the first three days and turned out to be the fifth film in a row for Balakrishna to touch the mark. Akhanda 2 will soon hit the 100 Crores gross mark in the next few days. This will indeed be a rare feat among big heroes because Balayya is only seasoned actor with five consecutive films in the 100 Crores club.
This is also the first time in Balakrishna’s five decade career that five his films continued to perform well at the box office irrespective of word of mouth. He will next team up with Gopichand Malineni for another period drama laced with action elements. There is already a strong buzz on the untitled film.
‘Akhanda 2: Thaandavam’ banks heavily on Nandamuri Balakrishna’s mass appeal and his powerful screen presence. The film also stars Samyuktha Menon, Aadhi Pinisetty, Harshaali Malhotra, Kabir Duhan Singh, and Saswata Chatterjee as supporting cast.
