Star tags have long been a part of cinema, with fans and films using them to define an actor’s on-screen persona. For Ravi Teja, the tag “Mass Maharaj” has remained synonymous with his image over the years. He was last seen in Mass Jathara in November. However, for his upcoming film Bhartha Mahasayulaku Wignyapthi (BMW), releasing on January 13, his screen name will appear simply as Ravi Teja, without the popular title.
Directed by Kishore Tirumala, Bhartha Mahasayulaku Wignyapthi is conceived as a family entertainer aimed at the Sankranthi season. The project was planned well in advance, with Ravi Teja consciously choosing to do a clean family film, a genre he has not explored much in the recent past.
During discussions with director Kishore Tirumala, Ravi Teja expressed his desire for a fresh character. He mentioned that he should not be reminded of his earlier roles and wanted the performance to feel new and different. Based on this approach, he suggested keeping his screen name as just Ravi Teja, without the “Mass Maharaj” tag, for this film.
Speaking at a press meet on Saturday, Kishore Tirumala said the film has been written and made as a family drama with no violence, apart from one entertaining fight sequence.
Bhartha Mahasayulaku Wignyapthi is a family comedy-drama. The film stars Ravi Teja, Ashika Ranganath, Dimple Hayathi, Vennela Kishore, Sunil, and others. It is directed by Kishore Tirumala, produced by Sudhakar Chilakuri, and features music composed by Bheems Ceciroleo.
