Naga Chaitanya went through a rough phase before making a strong comeback with Thandel this year, which grossed around ₹100 crore at the box office. He is currently shooting for his next project, NC24, titled Vrusha Karma, directed by Virupaksha fame Karthik Dandu.
The success of Thandel and the promising collaboration with Karthik Dandu brought renewed confidence among Akkineni fans, who felt that Chaitanya’s career trajectory was back on track as he steadily moved toward the big league. After wrapping up Vrusha Karma, Naga Chaitanya is expected to move on to his landmark film, NC25. Given the recent momentum in his career, fans were expecting the milestone film to feature a collaboration with a top-tier director such as Boyapati Sreenu or Koratala Siva.
However, Naga Chaitanya has never actively pursued big-name directors despite having the backing of the Akkineni family and Akkineni Studios. He has largely followed his own instincts while choosing scripts and filmmakers, and the same approach appears to be continuing for NC25. This development has reportedly disappointed sections of Akkineni fans on social media.
According to reports, NC25 is likely to be directed by Clax, who made his directorial debut with Bedurulanka 2012, released in 2023. The film was received as a decent watch by audiences. It is said that Clax impressed Naga Chaitanya with his script, and the project is currently on a positive note, with plans to go on floors after Chaitanya completes Vrusha Karma. Asian Suniel and Bunny Vas are reportedly in the race to produce this landmark film.
It remains to be seen whether Naga Chaitanya will reconsider his choice in response to fan expectations or continue to follow his instincts for his milestone film.
