Actor Sivaji’s comments about actresses dressing received a lot of backlash from the female fraternity in the film industry. The actor’s comments during the pre-release event of Dandhora are about actresses dressing, and they sparked widespread debate on social media. However, understanding the backlash, Sivaji immediately tendered an apology.
Sharing a video online, Sivaji wrote, “I sincerely apologise for my words during the Dhandoraa pre-release event last night.”
In his apology video, Sivaji made it clear that his intention was in good spirits, but he conveyed it in a poor light. Sivaji admitted of using unparliamentary language in this context and apologized for doing so. He also added that he has always held great respect for women.
However, the audiences and netizens also understood his intentions, especially in the light of the recent mobbed incidents where Samantha and Niddhi Agerwal had to face a bitter experience. But, the audiences also felt that he could have mentioned that it was his personal opinion and used better choice of words, in a balanced manner.
Earlier, Sivaji stated that a woman’s beauty lies not in revealing clothes but in grace and dignity. He remarked that true beauty is reflected in traditional or well-covered attire rather than outfits that expose the body.
