War 2 Losses Explained By Naga Vamsi!

War 2, starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR, failed to meet expectations at the box office, turning into a clear disappointment despite massive pre release hype. The film’s poor performance also led to several rumors about heavy losses faced by Telugu distributor and producer Naga Vamsi, who handled the AP and Telangana distribution.

Putting an end to the speculation, Naga Vamsi revealed how Yash Raj Films supported him after the losses. According to him, the War 2 Telugu rights were acquired for Rs 68 crores excluding GST. Yash Raj Films had already paid the GST amount before release.

At the box office, War 2 managed to generate only around Rs 35 to 40 crores in share from the Telugu states, leading to losses. However, Naga Vamsi confirmed that Yash Raj Films voluntarily stepped in and refunded Rs 18 crores to him after the release. This compensation was part of a pre-agreed arrangement to cover losses in case the film underperformed.

With this refund, the actual loss was brought down significantly. Based on the final calculations shared by the producer, the total loss from War 2 stands at around Rs 10 to 15 crores, far lower than the exaggerated figures circulating earlier.

The episode highlights Yash Raj Films’ professional approach in honoring agreements and supporting distributors even after a major box office failure.
