Watch: How Confident Maruthi Is On Raja Saab!

Director Maruthi has opened up about his upcoming big film The RajaSaab, starring Prabhas, in an interview with Gulte Pro. He described the film as a horror fantasy entertainer that is very different from Prabhas’s recent action heavy roles.

According to Maruthi, audiences will see a completely new version of Prabhas in this film. He said the actor’s fun and jovial side, which fans loved in films like Darling and Mirchi, will return. Many Pan India fans who are used to seeing Prabhas as a serious action hero will be surprised by this change.

Maruthi revealed that the film was initially planned as a simple comedy film. However, once Prabhas came on board, and he recommended for horror comedy and the scale of the film went to next level. That is when the story turned into a full horror fantasy set in a unique world. A major part of the film takes place in a hypnosis based fantasy zone where characters experience strange hallucinations. The ghosts in the film are also not regular ones, with some appearing in unusual forms like smoke.

The RajaSaab relies heavily on visual effects. The film features several CGI creatures including wild animals and a massive monster in the climax. Maruthi, who has an animation background, personally designed many of these visuals. Thousands of VFX shots were planned in advance using storyboards and mock shoots to avoid delays during filming.

One of the biggest highlights is the climax, which runs for nearly forty minutes. It took close to seventy days to shoot and is said to be one of the most unique endings in recent cinema. Prabhas himself reportedly told Maruthi that the climax is his favorite part of the film.

Maruthi also shared that he spent nearly a year working only on the script. While the first version was over three and a half hours long, the final cut will be under three hours to keep the pace tight. Special sets were built to enhance the fantasy feel, with detailed lighting and moving elements.

The director promises a full theatrical experience with humor, visuals, and emotion. The RajaSaab is scheduled for a grand release during the Sankranti season.
