One of the most ambitious and costliest creations in global cinema, Avatar, which is conceptualised and executed by legendary film maker James Cameron is still somehow finding its audience with every subsequent part.
The latest outing from this franchise has been entitled Avatar: Fire And Ash and it released in theatres in December. Many people felt that this is the weakest film from the Avatar franchise till now, and it was expected that the film would bomb at the box office.
There were conservative estimates that the film might even struggle to touch the $1 billion mark at the global box office, which would be a humiliating result. Particular so, considering the fact that the film has a breakeven target of $1.3B to $1.5B.
Thanks to the Christmas holiday push and strong hold in the domestic United States market, this Avatar film is on course to touch $1B mark. It is on course to break even at the global box office which is an interesting feat considering the early mixed reviews.
Once the film reaches the safe zone, there is every possibility that James Cameron might recite the Avatar franchise and come up with a new outing which he had planned earlier.
Despite lacking cultural significance or a strong following like an Avengers franchise, Avatar is still pulling audience to the theatres with every subsequent part. And this is perhaps largely due to the wondrous visual creation aspect of Cameron and his insane vision.
