Versatile actor Vijay Sethupathi is known for his unfiltered talk and honest interviews. Once again, he grabbed attention with his candid remarks in an exclusive interview with Gulte Pro.
These days, many actors and directors try to highlight something special about their films to attract audiences and build hype. Vijay Sethupathi, however, spoke openly about his upcoming silent film Gandhi Talks, where emotions are conveyed without dialogue.
He said filmmakers should never make films difficult for audiences to understand, as people come to theatres mainly for entertainment. While experiments are welcome, he stressed that they should not come at the audience’s expense, especially when they are paying to watch the film. He also clarified that Gandhi Talks is not a “special” film, but one that offers a different cinematic experience.
Sethupathi revealed that the team was initially worried about how audiences would respond, as the film does not follow a conventional format. However, after screening it for close friends and receiving positive feedback, their confidence grew.
He also made it clear that this feedback was not used as a marketing tool. While the team initially hoped for a super hit, they are now simply wishing for the film to become a hit.
Meanwhile, the recently released trailer has created a good buzz. Notably, the trailer features no dialogues and relies purely on visuals, underlining the film’s silent nature.
A R Rahman’s background score stands out and feels like the soul of the trailer. If the film succeeds in engaging audiences and earns critical appreciation, it will be a big win not just for Vijay Sethupathi or the director, but for the entire cast and crew.
