Taapsee Faces Backlash Over Shocking Remarks on South Industry

South film industry often gets targeted by heroines who once worked here and made a prolific career with ample opportunities before shifting loyalties to Bollywood in search of more money and fame. There were numerous such instances when actresses made baseless allegations on the working style of South Indian movies just for the sake of getting attention.

The latest remarks which are once again made to belittle South cinema came from popular artist Tapsee Pannu, who kick started her career in Tollywood and later went on to become a prominent female lead with promising offers. She appeared on Shubhankar Mishra’s podcast to promote her new film, Assi, where she tried to portray South film industry in a negative manner with unfounded claims.

During her interaction, Tapsee alleged that South directors ask heroines to wear padded inner wear before shooting for certain scenes. She further claimed that heroines are subjected to embarassment on sets because there won’t be much women while shooting to convey the director’s request to them.

More shockingly, she said South cinema is very much obsessed with navel show more than the Bollywood item songs. She alleged that even story telling and narrative are fixated on navel most of the time unlike Hindi films which do it only during songs. Tapsee said she was trying to understand the reason behind this obsession among South filmmakers.

Tapsee’s comments have gone viral on social media and resulted in acute criticism from netizens. They are questioning why she worked in many films down South if she ever faced such distasteful incidents on sets. Some have claimed that she is following the same trend like few other heroines who made similar comments on South cinema after heading to Bollywood from here for the sake of attention.

Many are also criticising Tapsee for forgetting how Bollywood filmmakers present heroines in glamorous songs and romantic episodes.
