Suriya worked on an exciting project titled Karuppu, directed by RJ Balaji. The film was supposed to hit the screens by now but faced a postponement. However, the film is aiming for a release on May 14th and there have been significant narratives doing rounds about the film’s concept.
The interesting buzz is that Balaji has now indicated that Suriya will portray a superhero tasked with confronting the challenges of a troubled world in the film.
In the initial days of production and during the earlier promotional events, the team indicated that the film would be heavy on devotional elements and would touch the softer side of devotion, which Suriya had not done before.
Since Balaji also worked under the same genre, everyone thought that he would deliver it well for Suriya. But the latest revelation is creating a new wave of excitement among the fans.
“When the world is going through an extremely difficult phase, what if a superhero arrives to put an end to that suffering? We have portrayed that in a massy and action-packed way, how he rises, overcomes hardships, defeats evil, and restores goodness,” Balaji shared in an interview.
Although the setup gives a routine superhero trope, when Suriya steps in, we can expect some freshness or uniqueness to the plot. Suriya’s performance is reportedly going to be a major highlight of the film.
Karuppu features a strong supporting cast, including Trisha Krishnan as the co-lead, alongside actors Indrans, Natty Subramaniam, Swasika, Sshivada, Anagha Maaya Ravi, Supreeth Reddy, and Yogi Babu in pivotal roles.
