Mega Power Star Ram Charan is returning with the rural action drama Peddi, directed by Buchi Babu Sana and produced by Venkata Satish Kilaru on a grand scale under Vriddhi Cinemas. The film has already created strong buzz with its chartbuster songs and striking glimpses. Ahead of the release, Production Designer Avinash Kolla shared some insightful details.
Avinash Kolla says he was overwhelmed when he first heard the story. “No story excited me like Peddi in the last 10 years. After Buchi Babu finished narrating it, I couldn’t speak or react for nearly 20 minutes. It moved me that deeply. The story carries immense emotional weight. That very moment, I knew we had to give uncompromising attention to every aspect of the production design.”
He reveals that the story is set in the 70s and 80s. “I’ve worked on many period films, so that experience helped. Peddi is set in the Vizianagaram region. We recreated its streets, the clock tower, and surrounding areas.
We focused carefully on the wrestling and cricket segments as well. We created a wrestling setup unlike anything Indian audiences have seen before. For that, we shot in an underground structure- the shot where Charan appears in the pit was filmed there.”
The production designer adds that Ram Charan appreciated every set created for the film. “Charan admired each set- from the train setup to the special song set, the wrestling pit, and all others. Many who visited him during the shoot were surprised by how natural and real the sets looked.”
Peddi is set for a Pan-India release on June 4th, and the team is gearing up to intensify promotions.
