Lenin Trailer: Akkineni Akhil’s Vishwaroopam!

Akhil Akkineni is finally ready to test his luck with Lenin, which is arriving in theatres on July 10. After keeping the story under wraps throughout the promotional campaign, the makers have now revealed the film’s core conflict with a grand trailer launch in Visakhapatnam. It offers a clear picture of what audiences can expect.

The story is set in Sriramapuram, a small village in Chittoor district where an eighteen day Draupadamma festival is celebrated with strict traditions. Not even a drop of blood is allowed to be spilled during the festivities. This peaceful backdrop soon turns into a battlefield after an unexpected incident.

Akhil plays a young man who visits the village for his politician friend and falls in love with a local girl. But things take a violent turn as both his friend and his lover land in grave danger. The rest of the film revolves around how Lenin picks up the sword and fights against all odds.

The biggest surprise is Akhil’s makeover. From his body language and dialogue delivery to the rustic dialect and emotional intensity, he looks completely different from his previous films. The trailer also gives glimpses of Bhagya Shri Borse, Shivaji and Sunil in important roles.

Thaman’s background score gives the action blocks solid energy and enhances the emotional moments. The trailer suggests that the film is designed largely around Akhil’s character, giving him enough scope to deliver both mass moments and emotional drama.

After waiting for a breakthrough for nearly a decade, Akhil appears to have found a promising script. With no major competition at the box office and a strong rural action backdrop, Lenin has the ingredients to emerge as a solid commercial success if it connects with the audience.
