When Gatta Kusthi released in 2022, it surprised many with its entertaining mix of family drama, comedy, action, and wrestling. The Vishnu Vishal and Aishwarya Lekshmi starrer crazy film went on to become a successful venture, earning appreciation for its refreshing take on gender roles and relationships.
Now, the makers have returned with Gatta Kusthi 2, and the sequel is slowly finding its footing at the box office. Directed by Chella Ayyavu, the sequel continues the story of Veera and Keerthi while introducing new conflicts and family emotions.
Early audience reactions have largely described it as a wholesome family entertainer packed with comedy, action, and emotional moments. The film opened to a decent ₹2.55 crore net on its first day in India and has already surpassed the opening of the first part by a significant margin.
Trade circles are now closely watching its weekend performance, as positive word-of-mouth could help the film post stronger numbers over the next few days. Interestingly, the sequel has not been released in Telugu this time.
The first film’s Telugu dubbed version failed to make an impact despite the success of the Tamil original, and that could be one of the reasons behind the decision. With family audiences gradually embracing the film and weekend footfalls expected.
