Will Avengers Beat Spider-Man At Indian Box Office?

Marvel’s latest superhero spectacle, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, continues its strong run at the Indian box office. The film has grossed around ₹100 crore in its second weekend (Friday to Sunday). Its total India gross has now reached ₹495 crore, putting it just ₹5 crore away from the massive ₹500 crore milestone.

With the film still performing strongly, the trade is expecting that the film will easily amass another Rs 100 crore or more before its theatrical run ends in India. If it achieves this, Spider-Man: Brand New Day will set a very high benchmark for Hollywood films in India.

Reaching this level will be extremely difficult for any upcoming Hollywood release. The film’s impressive run also shows the huge popularity of the Spider-Man franchise among Indian audiences.

Of late, many Hollywood films have done exceptionally well at the Indian BO. With Obsession and The Odyssey made decent, Spider-Man set a new benchmark altogether. Spider-Man’s strong second-weekend numbers suggest that the film still has enough momentum to continue its record-breaking run.

At this point, only Avengers: Doomsday looks like a potential challenger to Spider-Man: Brand New Day’s historic ₹500 crore milestone in India. Given the massive craze surrounding the Avengers franchise, especially after Avengers: Endgame, the film has the star power and audience anticipation needed to potentially surpass this record.
