Can Jailer 2 Achieve Kollywood’s 1000Cr Dream With This Hype?

Super Star Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 is one of the biggest upcoming Tamil films, but the current promotional buzz is not matching the huge business expectations surrounding it. The first part, Jailer, became a massive blockbuster and grossed around ₹600–650 crore worldwide.

The sequel, directed by Nelson Dilipkumar with music by Anirudh Ravichander, is reportedly carrying around ₹600 crore in pre-release business. As per the trade, the film’s worldwide business target is around ₹620–650 crore gross, which is extremely high.

The bigger question is whether Jailer 2 can eventually push Tamil cinema closer to the much-discussed ₹1000 crore worldwide milestone which none of their films have achieved to date. At the moment, the promotional campaign does not appear to have created the same excitement as the first film.

Two singles have been released, but the latest song, One Sun One Moon, has received a mixed response from listeners, especially when compared with the impact of Jailer’s chartbusters.

With the film releasing on October 15, the team still has time to increase the momentum. Rajinikanth’s presence is obviously a major advantage, but the makers need to create stronger promotional content before release. Let’s see what happens.
