How Can Prabhas Be Expected To Play Ravana?

Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana: Part 1 was released in theatres on November 5 and is getting good response. The film features Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama and Sai Pallavi as Goddess Sita. Kannada star Yash plays the role of Ravana.

Among all the characters in the film, the Ravana role has received special attention. Most of the people are praising Yash for his performance as Ravana. Some people even feel that the director made a better casting choice with Ravana more than with Rama and Sita.

Meanwhile, a rumour about the casting of Ravana has gone viral on social media. Some reports and posts claim that Prabhas was the first choice for this role. But is there any truth behind this claim?

The rumour itself has raised several questions. Prabhas is already an established pan-India superstar. He has delivered several sensational films across India. His market and popularity are much bigger than those of many actors. So how could the makers approach a star like Prabhas for a role that Yash eventually played.

Also Prabhas recently played Lord Rama in Om Raut’s Adipurush. The film failed to impress audiences and received heavy criticism. Considering this background, the claim that he was the first choice for Ravana in another Ramayana film sounds even more surprising.

There is another important reason why this casting rumour looks doubtful. Prabhas already has several big projects lined up, including Spirit and Fauzi. He also has Kalki 2898 AD Part 2 and Salaar Part 2 in his upcoming schedule. Most of these projects have been in the planning for the last four to five years, making his availability for another major commitment a big question.

A film like Ramayana requires a long shooting schedule. It also has two parts. Managing dates for such a huge project would be difficult for Prabhas with his existing commitments.

So the claim that Prabhas was the first choice for Ravana does not have any confirmed evidence and it totally looks like baseless rumour.
