Balu & Veturi: A Tragic Coincidence Between Voice & Words

Legendaries, SP Balu and Veturi, who shared a special bond and rapport also known to have shared a tragic coincidence. Veturi was born on 29.01.1936 and died on 22.05.2010. SP Balu was born on 4.06.1946 and passed away on 25.9.2020. Both share the uncanny coincidence of living 74 years and 113 days on mother earth. That is, Veturi and SPB lived the same number of days 27142 days/3877 weeks. The strange coincidence which sends chills down your spine is now receiving huge attention with a touch of grief and dismay.

The legendary and prolific singer of all times, SP Balasubramaniam left us for his heavenly abode on 25 September 2020. The profound grief and sorrow are still there in our hearts and not a single day goes for many fans without hearing his voice. The music has gone mute on that tragic day and no one ever replaces him. His incredible level of commitment, passion, skills is a few of his traits that keep us inspired and alive forever.

On the other hand, we have been privileged to live in the era of Veturi Sundararama Murthy who was and will always be one of the greatest Telugu lyricists. He had the ability to churn out the beauty from both the Ancient (Grandhikam) and evolving Telugu. His songs contain the deepest of philosophies to express the essence of life crafted with a more comprehensible language and a high literary value.

SPB sang uncountable songs in Veturi’s work and the magic and mystery of Balu’s voice along with meaningful words harnessed by Veturi produced sheer bliss for several years – Omkara Naadanu ( Sankarabharanam), Naadha Vinodhamu (Sagara Sangamam), Krushi Vunte Manushulu (0 Adavi Ramudu), Saagara Sangamame (Sitakokachiluka), Akhilandeswari (Saptapadi), Tholi Sanja Velalo ( Seetha Ramulu) are some of the classics among a plethora of masterwork.
