Mohanlal’s Marakkar To Release For Onam

The complete actor Mohanlal’s upcoming film Marakkar Arabikadalinte Simham displayed dominance in the National Film Awards announced for the year 2020. The film is yet to hit the screens but already grabbed the award in the Best Feature Film category. The film unit officially confirmed the release date this morning. Mohanlal took his Twitter and announced that the film will release on August 12th, on the occasion of Onam.

Marakkar is the first biggie to confirm its release date after the second wave of COVID-19. Mohanlal also shared a poster on Twitter that features him in an intense avatar. He composed a tweet in Malayalam and it says, “We sincerely hope that we will be able to present to you the ‘Marakkar Arabikadalinte Simham’ as an Onam release this coming August 12th, with the hope that your prayers and support will be forthcoming.”

The film is based on the life of Kunhali Marakkar, the famous naval chief of the Zamorin of Calicut. The film was initially scheduled for a release on March 26th, this year but was postponed due to the lockdown.

The film’s screenplay was co-written by Ani Sasi. The film was produced by Aashirvad Cinemas with Moonshot Entertainments and Confident Group as co-producers. The film also features Arjun Sarja, Suniel Shetty, Prabhu, Manju Warrier, Keerthy Suresh, Mukesh, Siddique, and Nedumudi Venu. Priyadarshan is the film’s director.

The film also bagged National Awards in Best Costume Design and Best Special Effects categories. The film also bagged, Best Dubbing Artist, Best Choreography, and a Special Jury Award for Special effects at the 50th Kerala State Film Awards.
