Boyapati’s Next Target: Bollywood?

Telugu films are doing extraordinarily well in the North belt and other regions cutting across borders. Demand for regional films is growing. With this, all the big directors are now planning to go places and expand the base.

While Rajamouli paved the path with magnum opus Baahubali, Sukumar and Allu Arjun’s Pushpa cemented the position of Telugu films in North. Already, Puri is doing Liger with Vijay Deverakonda. Boyapati Sreenu will soon be joining the bandwagon.

Boyapati will now aim to do a Pan India film with his next. Boyapati has a good mass pulse. Maharashtra, Bihar, Gujarat, UP and Rajasthan have mass pockets like nowhere. The core audiences especially from tier 2, tier 3, tier 4 (small cities) have special affinity towards mass and commercial cinema.

Even Prabhas Saaho which garnered mixed reviews down the South has done well in Bihar single screens. Pushpa didn’t fare well in Andhra Pradesh. Yet it did well hands down in the North. This clearly shows that there is good scope for commercial cinema in mass pockets in the North.

After Akhanda’s phenomenal success, Boyapati is now planning to target these audiences. Already Boyapati’s dubbed films (Sarrainodu, Vinaya Vidheya Rama et al) were big hits on YouTube and Hindi satellite channels.

He is planning to collaborate with a star hero from Telugu to do a Pan India movie. Mostly, it will be with Allu Arjun. But Allu Arjun may opt to do Pushpa: The Rule in between. So, let’s wait and watch.
