Vijay Mallya, Nirav Modi To Be Shifted To Tihar? What’s Up?

Two of the most infamous fugitives of India in recent years are Vijay Mallya and Nirav Modi, who had been caught in several financial scams involving their private companies. However, they have been seeking shelter in the United Kingdom by using international law against extradition.

On the other hand, India has been trying pretty hard to bring back these two fugitives and process them with legal consequences for their misdeeds.

In this context, the latest developments are suggesting that the Crown Prosecution Service from United Kingdom, recently inspected the Tihar Jail in India to assess the conditions.

The intention behind this assessment is to facilitate the possible extradition of both Vijay Mallya and Nirav Modi, along with other fugitive back to India. The established procedure in the United Kingdom is to assess the jail conditions in the origin country and make sure the prisoner needs are met before processing the extradition.

The Ministry of home affairs reportedly facilitated the CPS team that had arrived in India to inspect the Tihar Jail where both Mallya and Modi could be possibly held. Reportedly the team is satisfied with the arrangement.

However, there is the chance that the team might mediate a special enclave to host both Vijay Mallya and Nirav Modi in order to meet their specific needs. If that happens, then the Tihar authorities will have to build a special enclosure to hold the two fugitives.

In the recent past, several fraudsters and scammers from India had been flying to United Kingdom as the extradition laws are pretty strong there and do not allow other countries to prosecute individuals on their soil. But this is likely to change in the case of Mallya and Nirav Modi.
