Among this week’s releases Korean Kanakaraju is doing well at the box office despite receiving mixed talk. Thanks to its aggressive promotions highlighting Satya and Varun’s comedy the horror comedy is drawing crowds.
Lokesh Kanagaraj starrer DC has garnered unanimous positive reviews for its technical brilliance. While the film’s collections are solid in Tamil it is moderate in Telugu. The DC team hasn’t focused much on Telugu. Had they promoted the film in Telugu with Lokesh Kanagaraj the response in Telugu could have been much bigger and better.
The same thing happened with Arjun’s Blast Zone. With zero promotions the movie failed to perform as expected in theatres despite positive talk. After its OTT release Blast Zone trended at No. 1 for many weeks.
Now the next biggie is Suriya’s Vishwanath & Sons (VAS). Both the director and producer belong to the Telugu states but VAS is being positioned as a straight Tamil movie with Telugu being the dubbed version. With just a week left for the film’s release it is high time for the makers to amplify the promotions in Telugu which is a very key market.
Even the VAS trailer that released yesterday has only received decent talk not unanimous talk. In this backdrop VAS needs all round promotions. On one side Korean Kanakaraju is doing well and DC is strong in Tamil. Vishwanath & Sons needs to be seen everywhere for the next few days to catch the eyeballs.
While producer Naga Vamsi recently shared the opinion that spending on film promotions is a waste it is equally important to understand the ongoing trend at the box office and act accordingly. Lets see how this gamble work with Vishwanath.
