Honeytrap: IAF Officer Arrested For Leaking Sensitive Data to Pak

Quite often, we come across honey-trapping cases in which victims lose money and assets. On some occasions, the tactic is used to obtain secret information from officers working in sensitive positions by rival countries.

In one such case, an Indian Air Force (IAF) Wing Commander was arrested by the Delhi Police for allegedly sharing sensitive defence information with foreign agents, presumably from Pakistan. The officer was taken into custody on May 31, 2026, following a joint operation based on internal military intelligence.

A formal charge sheet was later filed in court on July 30, 2026. The name of the officer and other details of the case are not disclosed due to the confidentiality in the matter.

Preliminary reports revealed that the officer fell victim to a honey-trap scheme on social media operated by Pakistani intelligence agents. A woman contacted him when he was going through an emotional turmoil in his personal life and later gradually built his trust through messages and calls.

The woman then persuaded him to share details about military movements, deployment locations, and sensitive operational documents. The officer reportedly shared these sensitive files through encrypted online channels thinking he was interacting with a genuine friend.

He was also made to install malicious software in colleague’s mobile to monitor phone activities, track location data, and access private military communications remotely.

Suspicious with his activities, the officer was kept under close watch by the IAF and was handed over to law enforcement agencies. He was booked under the Official Secrets Act and is currently held in judicial custody at Tihar Jail while the legal process continues.

Meanwhile, Delhi police are now investigating whether the shared information poses a direct threat to national security.
