First Allahabad and now Faizabad! Looks like Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has developed a new fancy for re-naming places. Faizabad will officially be known as Sri Ayodhya, a Government Order said. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath made the important announcement just a few minutes ago during the grand Diwali celebrations being held in Ayodhya.
While his announcement was met with thunderous applause, people on Twitter seemed to be divided about the second renaming in the state. While a lot of them are applauding the CM for this change, others are questioning whether renaming places is the only thing he does!
On the other hand, several Tweeple also wondered whether Ram Temple can now be constructed anywhere since the whole district is Ayodhya. Meanwhile, Prime Minister was quick to jump in and tweeted: "It is a matter of immense joy and pride that Mrs. Kim Jung-sook, First Lady of the Republic of Korea visited Ayodhya and also wore traditional Indian clothing. The people of India deeply appreciate this gesture. Ayodhya and South Korea have an ancient link. This link forms the cornerstone of historical and civilisational bonds between India and the Republic of Korea."
Interestingly, the announcement of name-change came on the eve of Diwali. As a strategy, the BJP always uses soft dharma to promote Hindutva and this renaming is one such attempt. Political observes say that this renaming exercise is part of BJP's strategy to push for 2019 elections agenda. Will we see more name-changes in the run upto 2019 Loksabha elections? Only Yogi can tell!
