USCIS To Announce Second-Round H-1B Visa Lottery

In a piece of refreshing news for H-1B aspirants who were not picked in the previous lottery, the USCIS is heard in plans to announce a second-round H-1B Visa lottery for the fiscal year 2024.

The second-round lottery for H-1B visa is likely to be announced in the next few weeks and the immigration lawyers are predicting it to come out before the end of July 2023.

USCIS today announced, ‘We recently determined that we would need to select additional registrations to reach the FY 2024 numerical allocations. Soon, we will select additional registrations from previously submitted electronic registrations using a random selection process.’

USCIS is authorized to issue 85,000 cap-subject H-1B visas annually and only 70% of the authorized quota has been issued so far. There is an anticipation of 20,000 to 25,000+ H-1B visas to be allocated in the next few weeks.

Once approved, H-1B employees abroad must make an appointment at a U.S. Consulate or Embassy abroad before the H-1B travel visa can be issued. Entry to the US may not occur until 10 days before the start of the October 1, 2024, FY 2024 fiscal year, i.e. September 21, 2023.
