US: Venkatesh Reddy And Two Others Arrested For Kidnapping And Assault

Three Indian-origin men have been arrested in the US for kidnapping and assaulting a 20-year-old student from India. The three men Venkatesh Reddy Sattaru (35), Sravan Varma Penumetcha (23), and Nikhil Varma Penmatsa (27), repeatedly beat him, made him work for several months at three homes. The victim did not go to the police fearing the political and business background of the three men in India.

Over seven months, the three men locked the victim in a basement without an unfinished floor and a bathroom. The student came to study at Missouri University of Science and Technology in Rolla. He was taken to Venkatesh Reddy’s home beginning last April and was forced to work a full day doing chores.

According to the court documents, the victim got only three hours of sleep and was monitored through a surveillance camera. He was forced to strip down naked and hit all over the body. He was kicked stomped and lashed.

The victim told the police that Venkatesh Reddy Sattaru would beat him often, but would call Sravan Varma Penumetcha and Nikhil Varma Penmatsa sometimes and tell them to hit him harder if Sattaru was not satisfied with the victim’s pain.

Prosecutor Joe McCulloch said the victim remains in the hospital with broken ribs, broken bones in his arms, legs and hands, and feet. The victim lost more than 30 pounds of body weight since he came to the US. The three men were ordered to be held without bond for now.
