Telugu-origin techie Sunil Kumar Gundrai died of heart attack in Florida on May 7, 2026.
As he was the sole earning member of his family, his family was devastated due to the untimely loss of life due to heart attack. The North America Telugu Society (NATS) launched a GoFundMe donation campaign to help the grieving family.
A native of Gadwal in Telangana, Sunil was working with IT company Capgemini in Tampa, Florida. He is survived by wife and two young children. Reportedly, NATS has set a donations cap of $200,000 for Gundrai’s family as they face an immense emotional and financial hardship. So far, the fundraiser had amassed nearly $60,000.
The fundraiser stated that Sunil was inspired by his father, a government school teacher, to work tirelessly and build a better life for his family in the US. The fundraiser seeks to cover immediate living and emergency expenses, funeral and other household needs, apart from long-term educational support for the two children.
The news of Sunil’s death comes within days of an Indian student Mohammad Kumel Shaik’s death due to cardiac arrest in California. The 26-year-old student’s death shook his family in India.
“Mohammad came to the US with big dream and worked incredibly hard for his future and for his family back in India,” read the GoFundMe fundraiser launched after his passing. “We are now trying to raise funds to help send his body back to India and perform his final rites.”
