Trump Eyes Another H1B Overhaul, Indians on Edge Again?

President Donald Trump is one of the concerning faces for the Indian community as literally no one knows what kind of restriction that he would be imposing next on the Indian folk in the US. After changing the H1B and green card regulations already, he is likely to make it all the more tougher now.

One of the fundamental changes being considered by the Trump administration is regarding the H1B visa. The new restriction could mandate employees to establish good intent and a positive outlook for employers. This would mean that the companies with a bad history of H1B violations will be put to greater scrutiny.

The volume of the documentations and the real-time working mechanisms of the employees could be continually monitored from now on. This regulation could be coming to effect from as early as this August.

This is in addition to the existing hundred thousand dollar fee that is already imposed on H1B applications. Trump is likely to increase the scrutiny on this through detailed verification of the workers henceforth.

Also, there could be significant changes to the duration of visa for international students, including Indians. There could be restrictions on the OPT scheme as well, which is a two year extension of visa, which has been extensively helping the Indian population. The timelines could be changed by the Trump government now.

There could be more changes made to the set of eligibility criteria, and also the operational requirements for work oriented green cards from now on.

It is evident that the Trump administration is likely to crack down further on the Indian community in the United States with more restrictions and requirements likely to be enforced starting in a month or so.
