Trump Backs Saritha Komatireddy For NY Attorney General

Indian American Republican Saritha Komatireddy, who is of Telugu origin, has received a major political boost after US President Donald Trump announced his complete and total endorsement of her campaign for New York Attorney General. She is taking on Democratic incumbent Letitia James in the upcoming November election.

Trump strongly backed Komatireddy while targeting Letitia James, with whom he has been involved in a long running political and legal battle. He described Komatireddy as an experienced candidate capable of bringing a different approach to the Attorney General’s office.

Komatireddy is a former federal prosecutor and previously served as chief of staff at the Drug Enforcement Administration. Trump had also nominated her in 2020 to serve as a federal judge in New York, highlighting their long standing association.

In his endorsement, Trump said Komatireddy would focus on law and order, economic growth, support for law enforcement and first responders, election integrity and border security. He also praised her stance on constitutional issues and national security.

Komatireddy is now hoping to turn Trump’s backing into momentum as she prepares for the statewide contest. Her campaign is seeking to position her as a strong Republican alternative to James, who is running for another term as New York Attorney General.

The endorsement has brought fresh attention to the Indian American candidate and her political journey. With the November election approaching, Komatireddy’s contest against James is expected to remain one of the closely watched statewide races in New York.
