23-year-old Telangana student, Sreeja Reddy Koya, has gone missing in Boston, United States, leaving her family in deep distress.
Going into details, Sreeja, a native of Shabdullapuram village in Kanagal mandal of Nalgonda district, is pursuing higher education at the University of Massachusetts Boston. She moved to the US around one year ago and was also working part-time.
Sreeja’s last conversation with her mother Swaroopa was on November 2. During the call, Sreeja asked her mother whether she had eaten. When her mother asked about her dinner, Sreeja said there was a birthday party at her residence and that she would eat and go to sleep early.
However, the family later received information that Sreeja had gone missing after stepping out of her residence for a walk that night. Her friends informed her mother that she did not return to her apartment. The family was surprised as Sreeja was usually careful about going out at night.
According to Boston Police, Sreeja was last seen around 9.45 pm on November 2 near her residence at Edison Green in the Dorchester neighbourhood. She was wearing a black jacket and blue jeans. Reports also said she was later seen walking barefoot by patrolling police officers. Police suspect Sreeja may have visited the Carson Beach or Harbor Point areas.
Sreeja’s mobile phone has remained switched off since she went missing. Police reportedly traced her last available location to an area close to her residence. Boston Police have appealed to the public to share any information that could help trace Sreeja.
Telangana state minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy has sought urgent intervention from the Ministry of External Affairs, Boston Police and other concerned authorities to trace her.
