Nimmagadda Case: Don’t Play Petty Politics, SC Tells Ap Gov

Supreme Court

The Supreme Court of India has declined to issue a stay in Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar case. As we know the AP High Court has given its verdict in favour of Nimmagadda and asked him to take over as AP State Election Commissioner immediately.

However, the AP State Election Commission withdrew its notification within minutes after reappointing Nimmagadda as per the directions of YCP government. Later on High Court’s verdict, the YCP government knocked the Supreme Court and requested for a stay.

This case for hearing on Wednesday and after listening to the argument of government, Supreme Court made critical comments on YCP government. “Don’t play petty politics with Constitutional bodies. The ordinance issued by state government has no sanctity,” said the Supreme Court.

After postponing the local bodies elections, CM YS Jagan has brought an ordinance reducing the tenure of Election Commissioner and immediately he was sacked and replaced with Kanaka Raju. On this Nimmagadda approached the High Court and won over it.
