Badvel Bypoll: Pawan shocker to BJP!

In a shocker to the BJP, Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan declared that their party would not contest the Badvel bypoll, as a mark of respect to the wife of deceased MLA Gunthoti Venkata Subbaiah, belonging to the YCP.

He said that there had been a lot of pressure that the JS should field a candidate but that he had taken such a decision with due respect to the deceased MLA’s wife Dr Dasari Sudha, who served as an MLA earlier here. He called upon the leaders of other political parties also to support the YCP candidate and let the poll be an unanimous win.

Though the Jana Sena chief criticises the YSRC policies and is ready to ‘wage a war’, with regard to the Badvel bypoll, Pawan said he does not field the party candidate. It is still not known if the Jana Sena chief had taken the decision after having discussed the issue with the party’s ally BJP.

Just a couple of days ago, BJP state chief Somu Veerraju said that they would field a candidate for the bypoll, after discussing the issue with the Jana Sena.

Earlier, Pawan Kalyan expressed determination to field Jana Sena candidate for Badvel bypoll and said that they want to ask the BJP to allow them have a say, as the actor felt that they have a better chance of attracting the voters and winning from the constituency. Pawan also felt that if given an opportunity, his party cadre will get a chance to prove that they can also lead a political campaign.

Pawan’s latest statement to withdraw from the contest has put the BJP in a tight spot. It has to be seen how the BJP would handle the issue.

Badvel bypoll is scheduled on October 30 and the notification for it was released on October 1. The TDP fielded Dr Obulapuram Rajasekhar, who had contested in 2019 elections as its candidate for the bypoll. The constituency is reserved for scheduled castes since 2009 general elections.
